Hi! I am Suzanne, just starting out my journey as an osteopathic manual therapist. I just graduated the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy in July of 2025. I absolutely fell in love with osteopathy during my four years of school - from watching loved ones have better quality of life from treatments to treating public patients and hearing how osteopathy has changed their lives, I knew it was my calling. The body is truly limitless if we set it up for success to self heal and regulate - I hope to help unlock this potential in YOU, to achieve your ultimate health.

I completed my four year undergrad at the university of Toronto in Kinesiology, where I entered the workforce as a Registered Kinesiologist for 8 years (working through school). I worked in rehab, ergonomics and industrial injury prevention. But I always knew I had a higher calling - I had the desire to really change peoples lives. Osteopathy was a field I had never really explored but doing research and visiting various practitioners and schools, peaked my interest. Thankfully my interest grew into knowledge and my knowledge into passion, and here we are today - joining the Move Free Osteopathy Team as an Osteopathic Manual Therapist. Hi, I’m Stephanie, an osteopathic manual practitioner (OMP) with a focus on providing preventative, maintenance, corrective, and palliative osteopathic care. In addition, I also offer a very integrated and unique service that provides both physical manipulations as well as guidance in stability training regimes.

My training as an OMP places a focus on the principles of Classical Osteopathy, as defined by the founding father, Dr. Andrew Taylor Still. These principles emphasize the relationship between the structure and function of the anatomy, where the goal of treatment is to establish an environment of self-healing and regulation for the body.

Occasionally you may find that in treatment, a certain area may hurt, but the practitioner works on a very different part of the body. It is not that the practitioner is ignoring your pain, but is searching for the primary cause of the dysfunction, a criteria that is met by the capacity of proper motion. Osteopathy requires not only a vast knowledge of anatomy and physiology, but also requires an understanding of the connection that exists between the two, how structure and function are reciprocally interrelated.

Therefore, it is important for the practitioner to identify the cause of pain that an individual may be experiencing, and it is only by removing the root cause that the pain can be relieved. Therefore, Osteopaths search for the cause rather than treat the symptoms.

My fascination with the human body began when I started working out to improve for sports when I was 17. As I gained weight and strength I was curious how the human body was able to do this. Curious and determined to figure this out I started my school journey in 2011-2013 at Conestoga College taking Fitness and Health Promotion, graduating with honors and distinction. This program gave me the introduction I wanted to know for sports performance and how the body works, but it wasn’t enough. In 2013-2016 I went to the University of Guelph Humber to complete a degree in Kinesiology to further increase my knowledge. During this time in University I competed very successfully in natural bodybuilding and powerlifting winning multiple first places in the categories I competed in both respective sports. Before graduation in 2016 from UoGH I had a bad fall, which forever changed my life for the better. I was in constant pain and sought out treatment from every imaginable profession; physiotherapy, chiropractic’s, massage, acupuncture, pain specialists, and PRP injections and so forth. I got no relief until I found Osteopathy. As I got drastically better in a few treatments I asked how he was able to make great changes while nobody else could and he told me it was the philosophy and principles of Osteopathy. Not knowing what I wanted to do after University I suddenly knew in that moment I wanted to become an Osteopath. I was able to get into the 2016-Fall class at the Canadian Academy of Osteopathy in Hamilton. I know what it feels like to be in constant pain, and Osteopathy saved me from a life of pain. I want to provide to the public what Osteopathy has provided to me, as no one should have to live in pain.
